History

1952

Herb Swan completed IBEW apprenticeship program in Lansing, Michigan.

1966

Herb Swan started Swan Electric Company in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

1979

Purchased Lancaster Electric Company in Gaylord and integrated into Swan Electric’s operations as a new office.

1980

Lynn Swan (son) started working as President in Gaylord, Michigan.

1986

Main office transferred to Lansing, Michigan. Gaylord remains as a branch office.

2013

Acquired Spartan Electric Services in Lansing.

2015

Jennifer and David (3rd generation) took over the Leadership of Swan Electric.

2019

Opened a Marshall, Michigan branch office.

Jennifer Van Dyke
Jennifer Van Dyke: President

Jennifer graduated from Albion College and earned Master’s degrees from Purdue University and Virginia Commonwealth University. She taught at Virginia Commonwealth University before joining Swan Electric in 2004 as the Administrator. While at Swan she became a Leed Accredited Professional. In 2012, she became Vice President and in 2015 President. Jennifer oversees the administration and accounting activities of Swan Electric. She serves as a member of the IBEW-NECA Labor Management Cooperation Fund committee.

David Swan
David Swan: Vice President

David is a graduate of Albion College and earned his MBA from University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire. David worked as a Project Manager for the National Project’s Division of Hunt Electric Corporation for 7 years running automotive, industrial and power generation projects throughout the US. In 2011, David joined Swan Electric Company as a Project Manager and became the Vice President in 2015, overseeing estimating and construction activities. David served as the chair of the IBEW-NECA Joint Apprenticeship committee for several years.

Tim Stolicker
Tim Stolicker: Director of Business Development

Tim started in the electrical industry as an apprentice in 1990. For 16 years, Tim was an Owner of Spartan Electric Services which specializes in commercial and industrial service work. In 2013, Spartan Electric Services was acquired by Swan Electric. Tim continues to manage the operations of Spartan Electric. In 2018, Tim became the Lansing Division Manager of Swan Electric. He has completed significant projects for a variety of industries in his career including automotive, solar, industrial and commercial.

Swan Electric emphasizes safety throughout its organization. We conduct our operations in a manner that avoids injury to people and damage to both property and the environment. We believe that we can perform our work activities without accidents, illness or injury. We do this by identifying potential risks and implementing effective solutions before an accident occurs. It is of utmost importance to Swan Electric that our employees utilize safe work practices both on the job and at home. While Swan Electric has an implemented Health, Safety and Environmental Program, we focus on working with the construction manager and owner to maintain the highest safety standards possible on each job site.
